Lecture for Students and the General Public by Professor Anne Speckens from Radboud University Medical Center, Netherlands
Mindfulness is increasingly recognised as a clinically relevant and evidence-based approach within modern medicine. With growing demands on patients and healthcare providers alike, mindfulness-based interventions (MBIs) offer meaningful support for psychological resilience and overall well-being.
In this lecture, Professor Anne Speckens —psychiatrist and founder of the Radboudumc Centre for Mindfulness—will present clinical applications of MBIs in depression, ADHD, cancer, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson’s disease. She will also explore how mindfulness can support medical students and professionals in managing stress and preventing burnout. Drawing on insights from recent research, the talk highlights the potential of mindfulness to enrich both individual care and healthcare systems as a whole.
